Stop Affiliate Link Thieves
Saturday, April 11, 2009
Affiliate marketing is a great way to earn income, and when done right it can become very lucrative indeed. It is an internet marketing business model that requires the owner to have no product, no website, and no upfront costs. That's because they are virtual commission agents, driving traffic to the websites of people who do have products or services to sell.
When they sign up for an affiliate marketing program, they are issued with their own affiliate link so that when a sale results from their marketing efforts, the commission is allocated to their account. The amount an affiliate marketer can earn depends on their choice of product to market, and how well they market it of course.
As more and more people become involved in affiliate marketing however, the more it seems that unscrupulous people try to cash in on their work. It is sadly becoming common for affiliates to make sales only to find that their links have been stolen by more tech-savvy thieves. It is hard to track them down, and almost impossible to prove and recoup money. Often affiliates don't even know that it's happened.
Fortunately however the guys in the white hats are riding to the rescue of we affiliate marketers. There have been great advances made in protecting affiliate links by cloaking them, and there is even software available now that rotates the links as well - making it even more difficult for the thieves to get their hands on our links.
When looking for a clock and rotate tool it is really important to make sure that it is easy to use, and has the ability to save all of your affiliate links in one place. The newest one on the market even makes entering into a JV easy by rotating sales pages between the JV partners - no squabbling about who gets how much in commission - one for me, one for you.... so easy.
With any new technology, it is sometimes hard to get your head around it, so being able to try before you buy is another feature to look for.
But whatever you do, make sure you cloak and rotate your affiliate links, to ensure that you get the commissions that you work so hard for. by Kerry Finch
